Blog Tag: My Ten Fave Screen Actors

Thanks to Laurie for tagging me!

This was a tough one to whittle down. You might not know this about me, but I am a big film fan and so my favourite actors and actresses list has grown to be pretty long. When I was tagged to do this, I wasn't sure whether I should go for recent faves or all time faves! It's not a conclusive list, but I decided to go for. Mix - actors I have always loved, and actors I am really enjoying at the moment. I hope you enjoy the collection :)

(These are also in no particular order)

1. Tom Hiddleston

Those of you who know me know that I am a big Tom Hiddleston fan. I first saw him in Cranford years ago, and then he kind of blew up the Internet when he played Loki. The God of Mischief is definitely one of my favourite roles he's played, but I also really love his work in The Hollow Crown. I think he's extremely versatile as an actor and I have a lot of respect for him as a human being too.

2. Michael Sheen

You Welsh diamond, you. Does more need to be said? He's just so flippin' diverse. I can't think of a single role that Sheen hasn't pulled off convincingly. He just goes for it - Zeus in Tron, Tony Blair, David Frost, Kenneth Williams. Recently, I saw him in the Mariah Mundy movie as Captain Will Charity and he was spot on, even if the movie wasn't.

3. Dwayne Johnson

People are always super surprised when I tell them I like Dwayne Johnson. 'He's not an actor,' they say. Well, I say, they're wrong. You only have to watch WWE to see he's been putting on a show for most of his career and he'll give anything a go - who else would have worn a pink tutu and played a tooth fairy so well? No one.

4. Martin Freeman

I love Martin Freeman. He is an awesome Watson, and I don't think anyone else could have played Bilbo like he did. He seems really down to earth and very funny. I don't think I'd ever have guessed that the stand in porn guy from Love Actually would ever end up being so popular, but I'm glad he did cos Martin is great.

5. Robin Williams

It makes me so sad that Robin Williams will never make another movie. A lot of the films I watched growing up had him in, and a couple of my all time faves had Williams at the helm (Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire and Aladdin to name a few). Some of his serious roles were amazing too. He was such a funny, talented man.

6. Tom Hanks

My favourite Tom Hanks era is the 80/90's romcom era - you know, Sleepless in Seatle And You've Got Mail - but I also love him in pretty much every movie I've seen him in. Forrest Gump is obviously iconic, he wowed everyone by proving one guy and a volleyball could tell a convincing story in Castaway, and he brought Woody to life in Toy Story. He's stellar, but ''Don't cry, ShopGirl" gets me every time.

7. Bill Hader

Yeah I know, he's done so little film work but he makes me laugh so much! Seriously, this guy can do any voice, any character - he was one of the best parts of SNL, and it's not he same without him. I really hope to see him in more movies in the future and I'm desperate to see Skeleton Twins.

8. Ian McKellan/Patrick Stewart

Maybe it's cheeky putting these two together but I kind of consider them to be a pair. They both played pretty iconic roles as I went through my teens and weirdly, they kind of feel like my really old godfathers or something. I watched Picard and co every week, and it makes me really happy to know that Stewart is as kind and awesome in real life. McKellan played Magneto and being a huge comic book/superhero fan, it makes me happy that he brought so much to the role. They're both astronomically talented and I love them!

9. James Stewart

I love a lot of the old time, classic Hollywood actors and actresses so it's tough to pick just one guy but since It's A Wonderful Life is one of my all time favourite movies (and a Christmas movie classic, people), I kind of had to pick him. I've always identified with George, and that's because of Stewart. However, honourable mentions include Gene Kelly and Gregory Peck.

10. Miles Teller

He's definitely one to watch. I loved him as Peter in the Divergent series movies (I hold the controversial opinion that Peter is one of the best characters in the book series so it was great to see him done well on screen) and he made Two Night Stand for me. He really reminds me of the whole John-Hughes era type of hero in that. And Whiplash?! Amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing him in the Fantastic Four reboot!

So that's it for now as far as my favourite actors go. To be honest, some of these may have switched by next week! What about you guys? Do you agree with any of my choices? Who are your favourite actors?
